Motat

Our senior school from Pt England School went to Motat on June the 13th to learn about the principles of flight; drag, lift, thrust and weight. Through the door when we arrived there was a lady who was telling us as we walked us about where we were and where we were going to next.



First we were in groups of five. I was in Omni's mum's group. We went to go and look at information about Richard Pearse and Jean Batten. At the museam it showed all kinds of stuff plus it showed Jean Batten's bicycle and it also showed how she died. It said she died from an untreated dog bite.
There was also a theatre there and Richard Pearse's planes. The lady said we weren't allowed to touch anything.

Next we went to the Hands On Area that is the place where we were allowed to touch stuff. My most favourite part of the Hands On Area was the spinner, that is where somebody pushes you and you twirl around and around. Another part of the Hands On Area I liked was the earthquake cafe. It is when you push a button and you sit on a chair in the cafe and it will shake like an earthquake.

Next we went into this place where all these olden day bikes were, it was a like a big collection of it. After that we went though the mirror maze and I was scared because I feltl ike I was going to get trapped and I would never come out. That is why I was holding on to Paris all the way through.

Hot Air Balloon

Hot Air Balloon

During SSR our class [Room15] saw the trailer that had the hot air balloon in it, drive past. We all ran to the window and looked at it then Mr Jacobson called on the speaker that we had to go to the court.

Mr Burt introduced two men named Darryl and Matt who were here to show us how the hot air balloon works and how it floats. They got a humungous fan and put cold air into the ballon so it started to rise up. It looked tremendous. I felt lke going inside the ballon. If I did it would have smelt like rotten cheese and smelly gym socks.

When the fan was blowing it sounded like the rolling waves. I could feel the fan coming towards us. When we went around the balloon it felt a little bit crinkley and kind of smooth like a pillow. We all took a photo and it looked funny.

Next Darryl lit the two burners. They were blowing out fire. They were heating up the air in the balloon. It sounded like a roaring lion. The balloon got bigger and bigger. It covered the sun from us so it got shady. Then everybody said 'Yay'. The balloon was wobbling like a jelly and jiggly like in real life and then everyboy were racing to eat it.

Camp

This is a group doing rockclimbing and this is another person doing kayaking these are some of the stuff we did at camp




Three weeks ago the senior school went to camp. There were lots of people getting prepared, there were cooks, security guards and people who were putting up tents. They were all trying so hard to get everything done in time and guess what? They did. At camp we slept outside on our school field. We also did lots of activities like rock climbing, ten bin bowling, kayaking, blow carts, orientering and heaps more. In camp the teams names were Sharers, Carers, Protectors, Paticipators, Nga Kaiawhina and Nga Kaitautoko. At camp there were a whole lot of things you could do. You have to stick with your team though and we also had to practice an item.

The big lunch

On good friday after church we went to my auntie's house and had a big feed.I was so excited and starving.I couldn't wait to go to my auntie's house.When we arrived their,I hoped out of the car and I could smell some delicous food.It was barbeque,my uncle was cooking steak,chops and sausages.

Then I went inside the house and sat down and waited when auntie would ask if I wanted to come and go with her to get the patatoes,soy sauce and milk.Then we went back to my auntie's house.My mum started to do the patatoes and my auntie and my dad went to go and get the great tong. It was so yummy and tastey.Then we went home I was exausted.

Things we did at the reserve

At the reserve we ate our yummy lunch and build stuff with the sand but it was very windy.Also heaps of people were playing near the sea on the left side where their were slippery rocks.Lucky no one fell and heart their selfs.Heaps of people were trying to find some crabs and they did,but they had to throw them away.Most of the time I was just playing with my friends,sela,destiney and kezia.I really enjoyed playing games and having fun with our friends down at the reserve.It was so exciting but at the end when we had to leave lot's of people were tired and wanted to go home straight away.So we all went back to school and left when the bell rang.I ran fast so I can just jump on my bed and have a nap.
