End Of Our Year Prizegiving

Overall throughout the entire year, we motivate ourselves and do the best we can to reach the top (succeed). Our motto Strive To Succeed is a really important message, which some of us use to help us to work better.

Prize giving was the most momentous event that occurs annually at the end of each school year. I could feel the butterflies starting to kick in. I had the chills as we began. Reaching the year 8 awards, my heart was beating so quickly that I was getting so sweaty.

As I took a glance over to hear who going to win and this prize. With an absolute shock it was my name being announced for representing our school in the Auckland netball team. Standing up to strut down the red carpet I was feeling pretty glad. To actually get an award felt absolutely amazing.

The last award I received was for coming 3^rd in the academic area. Moses and I tied for 3^rd equal. Tanielu came second and overall Sela came 1^ST, which means she received Dux! She was the top of the school.

I was really proud and hopefully next year I can improve.

Reading and Maths Result

Happy, average, or bad. Exams are something most kids fear, it’s like torture for us kids for some reason. I guess it’s because the room is extremely silent, your not aloud to move around or talk. For our most momentous Asttle test we sit (reading, writing, maths, Icanz), it’s sort of frustrating as always .

But showing my overall marks I did pretty average and improved from the beginning of the term. Receiving my final results gave me the shivers, feeling so nerve racking gave me the butterflies. Hesitating to turn over my paper it finally reveled...’oh wow’, not bad. I mean these results explains to you how well you’ve done, how much you’ve improved, what you need to improve in.

Scanning through my reading and my maths results we were recently given. I just passed and improved in both test which was so relieving. It was unexpected because I was hoping to do better and not to be under the NZ mean. If you are over the average marks then it means that you have passed.

Hopefully that was enough to get me into a good class for next year in college!

Stunning Guy Fawkes Display

Duhh! I just can’t wait until the fireworks begin. Just buzzing over how many boxes were placed on the grass. Approximately 13 going length wise, and round about 16 stood spaced out in a row. Everyone in the crowd counted down from 10. It went a little bit like this,10..9..8..7..6..5..4, then louder 3..2..1!

Assorted colours blended in the air along with the piercing sound of the fireworks. We all sat in amazement as 4 fireworks flew up in the air all at once. They emerged in the air like a group of people huddling, very fast, they spread out quickly and it absolutely turned into some explosive fireworks. It was just extremely impressive how it all worked out.

Really I didn’t want to stop filming for one moment, starring at the fireworks like it was going over us like a rainbow. Couldn't take my eyes of for one second, just couldn’t resist. My eyes glued to the amazing display and made me smile continuously until my mouth started to ache.

Unbelievable, couldn’t get over the majority of fireworks layed out. So much! Sadly approximately ending the 30 minute display actually closed, it was so worth coming here. For sure I’m coming here next year!

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Finally! Hopping out of the bus as we arrived at Sylvia Park. Shivering as I thought to myself, ‘oh no’, our movie is playing in the extreme screen. Manaikalani film festival includes the 7 schools in our cluster (Pt England, Tamaki Intermediate, Glen Taylor, Panmure bridge, St Pius, Ruapotaka Primary, and Tamaki College), where we produce various types of movies to enter in the film festival. Really it could be about anything. This event occurred last week Wednesday.

To me my ultimate favourite movie was Te-News, performed by the students of room 15. It was so original, real comedy and the actor (Brodie Jack) was a natural. Many of the few students who have viewed this hilarious film, would’ve definitely agreed with me. At first I thought, ‘man is this another one’, but just watching a bit more I found it quite entertaining, luckily that happened.

In the cinema we got a chance to sit on the lazy boy seats, and ‘oh my gosh wasn’t that just a dream’. Comfy with my feet up relaxing enjoying the many films the schools had to offer. It was awesome! Until... I peered closely and no, there, stood Tanielu and Sela as they appeared on stage. ‘My gosh please don’t be it’, ‘please’. So our movie showed, sliding down my chair how embarrassing. Especially because me, Sela,Tia and Kezia had to flip our hair in one of the scenes, it was part of the movie ‘okay’!

Overall it was an excellent performance that the students had input in their movie. Interesting to see many students involved in these films and hopefully next year will just be as better.

Demolition Darby

Of course I wanna come! One of my older brothers requested for both me and my sister to come with him to Demolition Derby. (Demolition Darby) It’s a racing event consisting of different types of race cars doing set laps non-contact. Sometimes at the end depending on their budget, there’s a race where the cars can contact, do all sorts of tricks and jump over bumps and attempt to crash each others cars. Obviously we wouldn't pass on this great opportunity and it sounds like a lot of fun.

Before we arrived there we stopped at Carl's Junior for a quick bite before rushing off to the arena. Reaching Waikaraka (where demolition darby is held), we came to a stop as our eyes enlarged, my sister and I were so stunned to see how many people my sister and I were so stunned to see how much people were there. No surprises there, huh!

Strolling to the main entrance finding a long que of people who already bought tickets waiting to get in. Entering the grounds through the gates, I looked up seeing a long flight of stairs leading to the top of the stands. There was a barrier that separated the race, and the path at the back that leads to the food canteen. Listening to the sound of the cars lead us …. the corner as I got closer and the throng grew, we took a seat at the back which made it difficult for us to see. Switching seats, we sat on the grass not far from the fence near the tracks.

Prrrmm prrrm! The engines of the cars were getting ready to start, the sound of the engine completely drowned out the voices of those who were talking to me. It really made communicating with others difficult. Suddenly the green light appeared and off they raced, speeding through drifting as they reached the corner was incredible. Having a bet with each other choosing a number on a car, to confirm who would win. Apparently it seemed that my car I choose would always come 2nd, 4th,or 6th, but never first. So the pattern continued.

Shivering as it became chilly , caused my hand to become numb. Especially catching all the great action on the camera forced me to leave my hand from being warm. What was really funny was that, where we were sitting it was near the fence. Going down a few steps not far from where we were sitting, the fence there separated us from the tracks.

Grabbing some hot food I came back to watch the fireworks they had on display for us. ‘Oh my gosh’, it was just the best. To be continued......

Crimson Eclipse

My Planet Crimson Eclipse is unique in every way. Because annually in June the 6th there appears to be a full moon. So in the night time approximately at midnight there will be an eclipse and the moon will became crimson red. That is how it got it's name. It's also one of the colours I like! Anyways as the light shines down upon Glen Innes and gives those who look at it one wish. Just like a shooting star... but better because of the view.

Good Shepard Fair

That’s so cool! ‘Sure I wanna come’, as I replied to both of my little cousins. They just invited me to come with them to their fair, held at their school (Good Shepard). Yay! I can’t wait because I don’t really go to fairs often.

Driving off we were getting closer to their school. There were people there already setting up, which explains why it was packed even though it hadn’t started. We attempted to find a car park there but our spot was taken. We went through some sort of a narrow path between their church and the office. Numerous shack looking stores had large banners attracting their costumers attention, and describing their item they were selling.

Astonishingly so many people were there and the all the stores were available. The kick off was at 11:00. The layout of the shops were like so cool. Imagine standing right in the middle of the entire fair. It wasn’t just all food on one side, it was more like an activity (dunk’em) on the left side, candy floss in front of dunk’em, puppet show next to candy floss...well you get the picture. Browsing around I just couldn’t resist all the amazing things they had. So I went and got a cupcake that was beautifully decorated, also a cute lollie kebab, mild butter chicken, sugary churos (Spanish name for cinnamon donuts) and a lot they had to offer.

I don’t know how you would be bored because there were various types of interesting things you could do, I could list them all. Money golf, instead of hitting the golf ball in the hole, you had to hit the golf ball so that it would land on the paper money ($5, $10, $20, and vouchers). Ethnic food, Indian (butter chicken), Samoan (chop suey, taro), Tongan, (pig and yams). There was even a Filipino kebab. Toys on sale, at the end the kids were able to choose variety of toys to take for free, it can be as much as they wanted. Even paintball was accessible, $2 for ten shots at a photo of a teacher glued on wood.

It was such a pleasure to be there and a great opportunity. Can’t wait until next years!

More Stars Then You Think

Wow! Just so overwhelmed how huge the sun looks. After viewing a 3 minute clip on our solar system, showed that there are more then just one star. So unexpected to see how large a planet is, then shifting to another one that’s two times bigger, and then increasing the size until it reaches the sun. As it shows the sun, you would be thinking it all stops there, surprisingly it continues to another massive star, then several more stars appear until it reaches the most over-sized, gigantic star. It’s name is called VV Cephei.

So shocked to see all the stars starting form the sun extending to the largest star VV Cephei. The diameter of this star is approximately 2664,800,000, a very large number 'huh'. Learning about the size and scales of our universe is more interesting then it looks. You’d be stunned to see the comparison between the different sizes of the planets and stars.

Learning Basic Tennis Skills

Brand new equipment set out like the new rackets and tennis balls, also tennis nets for our school. Fun but also intense, tennis is a competitive sport. Learning for the first time and having Marcelle who was our instructor, was teaching us a few techniques in our first lesson.

Shaking, it was so nerve racking as I wait for my turn in line. Especially when me and Sela were the only girls, and the boys were winning most of the time. Sela pushed me forward, and I was hesitating to hold the racket, my hands became sweaty.

Doing an under arm serve sort of made me feel a little more confident. Then swinging the racket and actually hitting the ball over was an amazing feeling. Then it continued. After approximately 4 hits... I actually beat Zane! Phew! I was so relieved. The next game I lost, which was to Tanielu. I did’nt really care because I knew that I improved.

Now I am feeling so eager to actually have more turns. Beating like two more people to me felt like it was a fluke or luck. This game that we are playing right now is called the king of the courts. Whoever would win would swap to the king side.

It was a pleasure to play against my fellow classmates and I really had heaps of fun.

Outstanding Camp Highlights

Experiencing an enjoyable amount of time at Willow Park. Gave me so many ideas and highlights to publish on my blog. First highlight of mine was a cruise with Jonno and Nicky. Strolling towards the beach, creating rafts, sand castles, swimming when we had freetime, kayaking and doing so many more interesting things.

Pop! Out appeared my goosebumps, as it became very chilly as we cruised along the sea. The wind in my hair and the spit of the ocean water as it stuck to my skin like Velcro. Then we started to mess around with people by causing waves. Doing this we would surround them by circling right around. Creating huge waves, sometimes those who were on the kayak even tipped over.

The food as well was one of my favourite highlights. Knowing that every morning waking up to the delicious smell of toast. Then having lunch which looked so mouth watering. Next was dinner! It was just unbelievable, like you would hear the rumble of my stomach wanting to just take a snippet of the food. Dessert was even more divine. I mean chocolate mouse with pears, ‘WOW’!

All of the fun stopped there, but it was a pleasure staying there. Coming home on the other hand was my worst nightmare. Praying ever day, hoping each day would last longer. Each day came to an end, and the more disappointed I became. Heading home was a sad trip, we were moaning about why we would've stayed a couple of days longer. Dragging my luggage to the car, being grumpy to my uncle wasn’t a good start. The rest of the day was actually more fun then expected. Lucky me!

Living on the camp grounds (Willow Park)

Already being arranged and sorted into our groups, we then headed upstairs to our cabins to unload our luggage. The year 8 girls were in the same cabins together no.12, phew. Then safely leading my group down stairs ready to have lunch. I can’t really remember what we had, but I know it was a superb meal!

Our first activity on the rooster was a scavenger hunt. To get more familiar with the place, we had to search around for the photographed places on our map, along the way as we find each clue we can then tick them off. It was a bit of a struggle, as seeing most of the teams finished except our own group.
Announcing the winners we actually came 3rd overall. The reason why was because, this wasn’t only about who finished first, this also included how well teams explained their answers.

Wet games was another enjoyable activity of mine. Being able to get soaked, and laughing as other people transformed from dry as a dessert, to wet as a sponge holding in water. There were stations placed around the field.

One of the few activities I loved was where, both teams would grab a sponge soak it in full of water. Rush down to the bucket on the other end and then try to squeeze as much water as you can. Race back to the line and pass it to the next member of your team.

Aquila and Luke (senior leaders), were holding another station. The aim of the game was this: both Luke and Aquila would throw in the air, water balloons. Whoever caught it, had the ability to throw it to whoever. But then there was an opportunity for the kids to throw their balloon to whoever I threw mine at Aquila twice in a row. Smack! Right in the face and then the other one sort of like slipped into his shirt. Giggling after entertaining myself with the incident that has just taken place.

Starting fresh at Willow Park

Heading towards school on a fine Monday morning felt unusual, I guess it was just the feeling of not being able to see many wild kids running around. The reason why for coming to school was to get prepared to leave for our riverside camp, held at Willow Park.

Shivering with excitement on the bus, couldn’t wait to abundant this place. Just about reaching Willow Park, my body swayed forward and backward, why? Because we were finally here, the bus was jumping over the bumps which lead us to Willow Park. It’s like imagining a person doing the caterpillar.

Just before unpacking all our gear and getting ready for lunch. We had to be sorted into our groups, these teams weren’t mixed with boys and girls. It was strictly boys groups and girls groups.

Final decision

After school on Wednesday’s held in our school hall, is something called the riverside club. Kids at our school year 4 to 8 are able to stay and experience some fun, well at least until 5pm. Annually, we have a riverside camp normally for year 5 to 8. And year 4’s will have their own special outing later on.

This year was different! The year 8 leaders, (Paulitia, Bobbi - Grace, Maree, Ocean, Kalim Tamati and Moses, including myself), had a tough decision to make. It was between going to Totara springs as usual but not including the year 4's, or going to willow park and taking the year 4's along with us.

There’s a advantage and disadvantage between both places. Discussing together and thinking real hard about what to choose. It finally came to an end. The court was closed. We chose ................... Williow Park!

Term 3 Highlights

My top favourite highlights for term 3 was being able to watch the Rugby World Cup . Playing different sports each seasons. Tamaki Tech was one of my few highlights as well and Badminton.

An outstanding opening ceremony indicated the beginning or opening of the Rugby World Cup. All of the teams have had at least played two games. Tuning in live from home, I observed as some of the teams played exceptionally good, whether winning or losing. Some extremely superb players were as fast a cheetah, and just zoomed their way through the field.

Every Mondays at 8:30 year 7/8 stroll down to Tamaki college for Tamaki Tech. Various types of groups allowed us to mingle around and let us learn the different areas of technology. So far we were able to do Graphics, Electronics, Science and next week Cooking. Yay!

Sports was a absolute favourite of mine. Like Badminton, Netball, Softball, basketball and many more awesome sports still to come,(volley ball). This year we’ve managed to practise a bit more, and have mad a massive improvement, which we are proud to say. I Can’t wait until our Volley ball Tournament!

This Term has been a blast and I can’t wait until next term.

Rugby World Cup Games

My Gosh! That was the most incredible display I’ve ever seen! It’s also the only opening ceremony that I’ve seen for the rugby world cup anyways. The first rugby match for rugby world cup 2011 is, All Blacks vs Tonga. How spectacular was this game.

Watching the sensational Richard Kahui who scored the first try in the rugby world cup. Then the opposition (Tonga) were fearsome and put up a very good match. Still the All Blacks made an effort to score more tries. Shifting the score to 29 - 3 for half time.

The man in the bright red shoes, Ma’a Nonu steps and the flicks a pass to … and then received it again. Amazingly he scored another try for the AB’s, I’m sure this made them feel even more superb. Tonga were determined and never gave up. All you see is Tonga fighting back by getting closer to the try line. This is when the powerful Sona Taumalolo (in Tongan team), the player that’s difficult to tackle. Pushes through and was able to score a try.

The massive crowd in red cheered loudly, and screamed when Tonga scored a try. Still that that wasn’t enough to be able to beat the All Blacks. Again swapping the score to 40 - 10, what an awesome performance from both teams. All Blacks walking with their heads held high, and the crowd giving a standing ovation. They were very proud!

Rugby World Cup 2011

In class we've working on how we can improve on our writing. By doing that we've been learning to use better vocabulary and adjectives. This will help us to enhance our writing and improve in our test.

Re - Working Of Juniors Cross Country

Already several intermediate kids in classes of rm 19, 20, 21, and 22, have already had their cross country race. Being held at our school, also running through Tahuna Torea, (only for year 4 up to yr 6’s). Our Primary part of the school had their cross country race on Wednesday.

Since our cross country race has passed. Some kids from the intermediate block were chosen to be marshalls. Sela, Mauina, Moses, Kezia, and myself were selected from our class.

Observing a couple of races, it was so thrilling for me. First up was the 5 year old girls, following by the boys. As Mr Burt announced “GO”, the little kids (girls) went rushing off speeding around the field. Following in front of them would be a year 8 helper, just to direct them through their racing course.

When it was time for the older lot to race ( year 4 to 6). The marshalls would be positioned into the location we were placed in. My Partner Sela and I jogged just passed the start line with our paper arrow pointing right. Pointing towards the next marshalls (Mauina and Kezia). Again Mr Burt would say “GO” and off they went. Seeing all of them sprinting and their facials, they were pretty funny.

After lunch our class came back to watch the remaining of the race. Where most of the kids had already completed their cross country run. Sometimes when the kids were running in two’s making their way towards the finish line. Both of them would challenge each other, and then sprint to see who would come first. Too bad our class was mucking around and were sent back to class. Wow! I was shocked to see that kids were still smiling at the end of the race, like it was a piece of cake.

It was a pleasure to be a marshall out there, cheering on the little kids.

Silly Sports Day

As I glanced across the bottom field, teachers had already set up their stations. Hmm... what’s going on down there. On Tuesday Team 5 ( Rm 19, 20, 21, and 22) had a silly sports day. Each class would rotate and experience some fun activities. All the classes started with their own teachers activity. Then they would rotate around the various kinds of activities.

Our very first activity was ball tiggy with our teacher Mrs Lagitupu. We had cones placed on the grass to mark the boundaries, and we were given coloured bands that represented what teams we were in. The aim was to throw the ball around to each member of your team and try to tag the people from the other team. But we weren’t allowed to run or throw the ball at the opponents but we had to pass it around with our team mates.. It was so funny and intense trying hard to get the people from the other team out. It was very challenging for my team.

The hooter went, so then we moved to the next activity. Ms Tito was the next one up. A long slingshot and different sized balls were spread out. As I went up, I aimed for my target which was the pink hoop. I had to try and get the ball to land inside the pink hoop so that I could earn 100 points for my class. The ball shot off and was rolling towards the pink hoop, everyone stood up and cheered until the ball slightly went over the side of the hoop. Ohhh! It was a near miss and at the end we had 10 points.

Again the hooter went. We walked to our next activity with Mr Harris. This activity was called the three legged race. We had a lace kind of thing and had to tie it around me and my partners (Kezia’s) legs and we had to carry a tennis ball on a spoon up to the cone and come back around. We were also timed. Moses and Casey were the fastest there and back. Me and Kezia were so hilarious and just giggled the whole way back.

For the last time the hooter went. We came over to where Mrs Nua was and had a bucket full of water, sponges inside and a empty bucket further back. We were in our groups and had to line up. We had to soak the sponge with water, pass it to the side to the next person behind us and the pass the sponge under our legs. We kept on repeating the pattern until we reach the bucket. When we reached the empty bucket, we had to squeeze out all the water and run to the front of the line.

Our group did not win but it was such a pleasure to be able to experience this day and I really enjoyed it. At the end I was soaking wet, and rushed to get changed ready for lunch time. Most of these activities included team work, where my team and strained to show. Anyways it was the most entertaining event I’ve had besides learning at school. Hopefully we would be able to do it again.

Trip To The Life Caravan

This term on Thursday, we had the opportunity to have Harold and Lynn here. The Life Caravan made a stop at our school. The early session we had, we discussed about what drugs are and puberty. So many interesting stuff that I never really understood before, really did make sense to me now. Also, we covered the basics and what we’ve learnt over the time Harold has been to our school.

It was such a great experience for us. I really enjoyed having so much knowledge. One saying I would always remember is, Drugs don’t choose people, people choose drugs!

Cross Country

Oh my gosh! My feet were numb as the year 8 girls stand in their position on the chilly grass. Getting ready to start our Cross Country race. The year eight's, both girls and boys had to run 3K's and a half. But year seven's only had to run 3k's. Bang! As Ms Vaafusuanga clapped the two boards together, the girls shot of and sprinted around the cones.

Pasting myself as I headed through the reserve, I became dehydrated. I started to reach the top of the reserve, already seeing people curving through the path towards Tahuna Torea. I was so amazed to see the boys already catching up to us since we left first. Running through the the shells, it stabbed my feet so badly.

As I nearly finished and heading towards the playground. People were screaming out, Go Helen! Running towards the finish line with the people on the side cheering. Finally I finished, I was so proud that I kept jogging most of the way. Hoping that I can improve on fitness next time, I will try my best to run all the way.

Italy Presentation

This term our topic is based on the rugby world cup. We've had the chance to choose a country and study it. I choose Italy! It's been very fun and I've learnt a lot about Italy. I've also been surprised to find out that some famous people came from Italy. Here's a presentation to show a few of some interesting facts I found out.

Holiday Highlights

I had the most amazing day on Saturday! It was the coolest event that I’ve ever experienced during the two week holidays. My friend Tia and I came on Saturday morning to school and had to serve coffee for the members of parliament. What was even better, was that we got payed for it.

So anxious to start making coffee, Tia and I arrived at 8am and finished at 11:30. Walking in as more people started to come, we had a long queue full of costumers wanting a fresh cup of coffee. A lot of people had two cups or more of coffee and kept coming for more. I really enjoyed it and I had heaps of fun.

Soon our time came to an end. We packed the machine away and closed down. We received our money and tips we got from the members of parliament and left to get ready for another outing I had planned.

Sela and I got ready to go watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (part two). Stepping in the cinemas with the amazing scent of popcorn wonderful. Taking a seat, the lights began to fade. That was a sign that the movie was about to start. Then all of the sudden, a creepy soundtrack played. The last part of what happened in part one of Harry Potter showed and carried on from there.

I won’t spoil it for those who haven’t watched it but what I can say is that, the last series topped all the rest of Harry Potter movies, including my favourite, Harry Potter the prisoner of Askaban. Afterwards we went next door to Burger King and had dinner. The day came to an end and we dropped Sela off home. It was the best Saturday I’ve ever had!

Mr Burt's Korero

In the street our name for our new building, we had a team assembly. Our principal Mr Burt came and had a talk with us. First thing we talked about was gum is dumb. Chewing gum and then placing them under tables, on the ground, places where you sit and, it’s disgusting when you reach into somewhere and you feel something sticky and you find out it’s gum. A place with gum everywhere doesn’t look very nice and makes our school look dirty.

One of another things he was talking about was us being rich, we may not be rich but we. Mr Burt went overseas and some schools only had one teacher that works for 4 days and then another for another 4 days and it continues. Some schools can’t afford to pay teachers, school trips, camps, they don’t have music teachers, sports coordinators like our school. That’s why we’re fortunate to have the street, our music teacher, sport coordinator, all our teachers and extra things we’ve got but others don’t have.

It’s really sad because as he was talking he said that, we’re so fortunate. I think we are because, when you you think about it we are rich because we have houses, beds, clothes, uniforms and a abundance of opportunity’s that we don’t realize that others don’t have. He also talked to us about how ⅔ of the children around the world live in poverty and go to sleep hungry.

When a opportunity comes my way I should be happy and make the most of it.

Term 2 Highlights

Oh there’s just so many highlights for me this term. One of my highlights for this term was the soccer tournament we had. It was held at Crossfield Glendowie, riding in the car down to the field. We gazed outside as we stepped foot on the ground, we saw many teams there already practising. We played against Ellerslie, Church Hill Park, Panmure district. Overall we came second in our pool and we had a enjoyable time.

One of my other highlights were I AM MAKING MOVIES 2 competion. Before we entered our movie it was so much pressure getting our movies done in time. All the hard work we did and all the times our teacher screamed at us to get it done finally payed off. Arriving there we all sat down together, waiting was so nerve racking.

But then hearing that we won best creative storytelling was a astonishing feeling. But then we took it out, we won the award for Supreme winner it was a even more better feeling. Our prize was a still camera, video camera and a few USB’s donated from Sony.

My last favourite highlight for term 2 was Taoga time. We’ve been learning about Japanese with Mrs Nua and it has been great experience. Last Friday Mrs Nua’s sister who has been at Japan for one year came in our class and taught us alot about Japanese. We learnt how to spell our name in Japanese, the body parts I know funny, how to use chop sticks and so many more more fun things about Japanese.

One thing that I really enjoyed about Taoga time was when we tried to use chopsticks to pick up gummy bears, we had to see how much gummy bears we could pick up and drop in our cups. Then we got to eat them, it was yummy! So for the past days of term 2 it has passed by real fast, and I can’t wait for Term 3 that’s coming up.

Tamaki Tech

To experience Technology, we stroll down to Tamaki College for Tech. This happens every Monday’s, we meet up in the street before 8:30 and then we leave altogether. We’ve got 5 groups including the year 7’s that go to Tech, there’s various different types technology we do. We have Cooking, graphics, wood works,science and Electronics. I’m currently in electronics.

In the weeks we’ve been there we created a circuit. This simple circuit is a alarm sensor. We had a cardboard which when you stepped on it, it would trigger the alarm and make a beep sound. When we tried this experiment there were heaps of alarms going on at the same time and the piercing sound of the circuit.

In our group today we created a poster to show the danger’s of electricity. For example like electric fences, oh I remember never touch a soldering iron when it’s heating up, I can tell you it’s really painful. I used really colourful colours and didn’t finish on time. I really enjoyed electronics and learned heaps about technology.

Can’t wait for Science.

Mushi mushi! That’s how you say hi in Japanese. In Taoga time we’ve swapped groups. My class is learning about Japanese and practising our Mihi’s. We were searching the web and had to find out some information like what is the population in japan. There’s approximately 127,960,00 people in Japan. The largest islands or the main islands is Honshu, hokkaido kyushu shikoku.

I know this one, another info we had to find out was the capital city of Japan, also known as the Land of the rising sun. It’s Tokyo, Tokyo is also the largest city. There’s about 46 of the worlds greatest landmarks. One of the prominent landmarks is the Tori gate, it stands in the sea 500 ft, there’s also Mount fuji, Nara Todaishii and more landmarks.

Some interesting facts about Japan is that on respect for the aged day, tabacco companies will hand out free cigarettes to the elderly outside of train stations and department stores. Did you know that some Japanese love corn, sesame seeds and mayonaise in their pizza. Japanese people take hot baths every night, some do not have showers installed in their bathrooms. When you go to a funeral or a wedding you must take a gift of money.

So I can’t wait to make Sushi!

Argument

Technology has changed over time and developed over the years. This argument is to show that technology has definitely made a huge difference in our lives. The argument is why/ why not cellphones have transformed and made a change in our lives.

Back then they hardly had any technology and I reckon life was harder, for example phones weren’t portable, it was a struggle because you couldn't email, chat, keep in contact, communicate faster and more ways that makes it hard without technology.

But that’s why they’ve invented bigger, better, faster, and stronger technology. For example cellphones, iphones, ipad’s, laptops, there’s just so many new inventions still coming out. These technology are very popular around the world and everyone always try and be the first to get the latest ones.

My opinion and what I think of technology making a improvement in our lives is, yes and no. I am not certain as to why I decided to choose this option because yes technology has transformed our lives and has upgraded over the years. The reason why it’s easier for us to know where we are by an instant phone call, chatting with our friends, keeping in touch with our mates if they’re in different parts of the city or world, skyping or video chatting to see family and friends again, taking images to show other people what we’ve been up to, writing on the laptop, computer or whatever fancy technology we use. So that we are able to share with the world how we learn and improve in our learning, also what we do in our daily lives. There’s just a load of ideas as to why technology is such a popular device.

Like I said, I also choose no, the reason why is because for some people phones are just a pain and is just so irritating. I mean there’s a lot of possibility that your phone can have viruses, not work, load slow, sometimes when you activate a site, inappropriate pop up sites appear out of no where, it can also not big enough for your hands to text on or if touch screen type on. It’s a hassle and a big responsibility depending how much it costs and price. Also what you store inside your Sim card can be very personal but now could be erased. Sometimes when you actually know it’s out of your sight for good, maybe someone has found it and decide to keep it and store in their things. Some people if they are that wicked they can do far more worse things your things, for example find out things about you, blackmail you, pretend to be you and do something you didn’t do.

I don’t think that it has been proved whether or not technology has really improved our lives.

Immersion Rotation

Each term we have different topics and as always we’ve had immersion assembly to show kids the meaning of this topic and to give them a head start. We missed out on immersion assembly because we had tech. Still the teachers came up with an idea to have an immersion rotation with our teachers. Our new topic is BIGGER, BETTER, FASTER, STRONGER. Our five teachers in our team selected one of the themes: Imagination, Creativity, Discovery, Innovation, and Practicality.

We learnt about imagination with our own teacher. What we did was we created our imaginary pet called a zinger pinger. For our pet we designed what we wanted our pet to look like, whether it’s a she or he, the cool things she had and could do, and her own island. I really enjoyed it a lot, thinking outside of the box. I’m nearly finished with it because I’m making it really detailed.

Our second class was creativity with Ms Tito. We came up with different ways of how we could come up with a funky idea to design our names. It was cool because we could use anything to be constructive with our drawing and people were hiding their ideas every time people tried to sneak a peek.

Our last rotation was discovery with Mrs Nua. We first did an acrostic poem for discovery. Afterwards we had a competition to see who could create a shield or a barrier to protect an egg from cracking, when dropping it from 1 metre high. As we planned and got ready for our final design, we all started our experiment. We were given an egg, several straws, popsicle sticks, rubber bands and measuring tape. Our groups were in three’s and I was with Sela and Kezia. We placed out the newspaper and each group made their way outside to start.

Our final results didn’t turn out so good. Apparently our egg cracked, but it was very cool though. The winner was Casey and Tanielu. So what I learned from discovery was whether we could find out if our experiment worked or not. It was such a lot of fun.

Out of the entire immersion rotation I learnt heaps of things from the different teachers we worked together with. I really enjoyed it!

Trip To The Zoo

Yes! I had the chills when we were getting ready to go to the zoo, this was part of my aunties work (Vodafone). It was awesome because I've hardly been to the zoo in ages, not since I was little and I was so eager to go. We drove closer to our destination and I became more excited. I was vibrating in my seat and my baby cousin was staring at me awkwardly. We saw the sign that said Auckland Zoo, and we headed to get our wrist bands for those that were part of the Vodafone company.

First thing we did was to go and visit the monkeys. It was so cool I filmed the monkeys hanging on the tree, it was awesome and Austin was trying to pronounce monkey. It was fun because other times I have visited the zoo the animals haven't come out and it was great to see a change. We headed to the center of the zoo and there were many bouncy castles, and a sausage sizzle stand.

A little while later we came to get a sausage sizzle. The sausage was wrapped around a really fancy bread with onions and sauces. I took a bite, it was really nice. We went to the kid zone where all the small animals were, Austin went through the green tunnel many times and I just couldn't handle it. The animals that I thought were small turned out to be very large for their size, like guinea pigs which made me wonder when was the last time I came here.

Anyways, we went around and saw many more animals like the parrot, tortoise, monkeys again Austin and my other cousin were insane running around. Lastly I went and grabbed myself a Magnum, yum! As the hours of darkness came, we left and grabbed dinner. It was one of my best Saturday’s I’ve had and I can’t wait for this Saturday to see what’s in stored for me.

All about my friends

My friends are one of the greatest things that have happened to me at this school. My Best's friends are Sela, Kezia,Tia and Destiney. We're all different cultures like me and Tia are both Samoans, Sela is Tongan, Kezia is cook island and Destiney is Maori.

We’re all in the same things or at least one of us are. We enjoy playing all sorts of sports like rugby, netball,volley, touch and so much more. We always get picked or put together in the same activities, groups, classes and some more events. We all have similar taste like listening to music, sitting under the tree talking non-stop, eating together and just enjoying each other’s company.

It has been a joy seeing each other every day and we get in trouble together and we giggle about it afterwards. What I like about my friends the most is that we can always support each other, help each other and try and cheer each other up when they need it the most. I’m just so lucky I’ve got friends like them.

My friends are special to me and it makes me sad to see them go. Destiney is leaving tomorrow and we're all very depressed about it. I'm not looking forward to it and I think we might cry.

Learning

Learning for me was about concentrating on my work, trying to finish it on time and making sure I can show the audience what it means. I think that I need to make sure that I can make the deadline and also to try better next time.

Barrista Job

OMG! What can I say. I got accepted to be a coffee maker and I’m really happy because it looked like a really cool job with the funky machines. It would be a good experience for us especially at this age. I got it yes! We were told that we were being trained by a experienced barrister Jacob. We met with him last week and were taught a few steps and how to make different types of coffees including hot chocolate.

For a couple of days it started with the basics knowing the names of the equipment then the real thing, actually making it. Memorizing the steps and doing it the same time was sort of a juggle. Me, Sela and Tia were struggling as we observed what Jacob was doing, he made it look so easy except the steam where it got hot. But when it was our turn we felt shaky, edgy and confused whether we were doing this right.

I felt really honored because of how young we are and already at a early age we’re learning how to prepare coffee’s for visitors and adults using a machine. We are already getting a head start and practiced on the teachers.

It was a real challenge because on Friday we were actually beginning to sell and make cash. It was fun but sort of a battle, we had to make sure we knew who’s coffee was which and that we didn’t run out of ingredients. Trying to balance things out, it’s hard work and we know that we can improve on it later.

The big day which was held Yesterday. There was a group of visitors coming and we made some coffee for those who wanted one. I could feel so much pressure and felt so good when they commented on our coffee’s. It turned out better then I thought. It was really awesome.

Welcome To PE

On Friday's after morning tea, team 5 has Taoga time. We joined into our 8 groups, I'm in Mrs Telea class which is currently making movies in Imovie 11 . This is a little snippet of what we created in our class. This shows the Pt England way, following directions, showing respect to others, being courteous, including others , taking charge by respecting the school rules and our brand new intermediate classes. Camp TC Reflection

Camp is an annual event that is always held outside on our school field. Before rushing out the door I just double checked my gear again. When I arrived at school, I could see there were only a few people at school. And to think that this whole time I thought I was late!

Camp TC is our name of our camp, and it stands for Take Charge. All the year 7 and 8 campers got separated into 6 groups. Participatorz (my group), Thinkerz, Respectablez, Responsiblez, Carerz and Motivatorz. In my head I was just extremely excited to hear that I would be in a tent with Sela.

As we emerged into one line we separated into two teams and left to go. Our first activity for the day was with Mr Harris. We had very strange names for our activity and played against each other to find the winning team. One of the games we got to play was when we had to roll the ball past the cone, then we run after it, pick it up and pass it to the next player.

The very next morning we were given instructions to present a MTV movie, a group item and a stand out performance. Our group was last to film our MTV. It was sort of a struggle thinking of ideas and controlling your team at the same time.
That same afternoon, there was a company named rock up. They provided us with various different types of games that we all participated in together. So many fun filled games we could participate in like the Dunker which I will tell you later on, rock wall, Alligator Alley, Ski boards and Archery.

My favourite highlight for camp was the dunker. I took a deep breath, taking a glimpse back at my team mates who were eager to get a turn at throwing the ball. I was ready to hit the target. As I held the ball I got that feeling where I knew I was going to

push that button. I flicked the ball up and down in my hand, then with all my power I threw it as hard as I could. My aim was accurate. My eyes followed the ball as it got closer to the target. It pushed it back with a ‘bang’! Nathaniel splashed into the water, with a surprised look o

n his face. It was the greatest feeling getting people out and I was going around saying yeah, yeah, yeah!

On the last day of camp TC we headed down to Swimarama and enjoyed the last day. Exhausted as we were, we came together in the street and heard our final instructions. We got our gear and for the first time since camp started we left to go home. This was the best yr 7&8 camp we’ve had so far and will always be.

How To Set up A Tent

Procedure: How to put up a tent

When a tent is put up (pitched) correctly, people can then start to move in and start to make use of it by sleeping inside it.

Materials/Equipment:

- Pegs
-Poles
-Cover
-String
-tent bag
-hammer

Method; Step 1. Check to make sure that you have all the equipment you need. Then you can start.

Step 2. Start to unpack all the equipment out of the bag and lay out the base of your tent.

Step 3. Begin by pegging the pegs on the corners of the tent with a hammer.

Step 4. Carefully connect the poles together and thread the poles through the holes on the tent. Clip them through the holes to the base of your tent.

Step 5. Start to attach or tie the string on top of the tent and tie it to where the poles cross over.

Step 6. Get the cover and spread it over the top of your tent. This will keep your tent wind proof and water proof.

Step 7. Then start to zip up your tent or if you want to go inside and look in it.
This will keep the mosquito's and anything else from creeping inside. Check once more to see if it’s stable just in case and then your doneSo this is how you set up a tent.

Netbooks

Having Netbooks in our class and now that it is our very own is a great experience for us. Last year was the year where we were still trialing it out and the years have skimmed right past us. Already you know we get to take it home and it is a magnificent feeling inside.

On the Netbooks you can do so much there's blogging, chatting, playing games, emailing. It is so fun because it keeps you connected with your friends and it's so addictive. Soon when we own it, I want to download some music, photos, footage and more stuff.

So far on the Netbooks we've been creating our own graphs and learning about statistics. It is a really cool way to learn, it gives us information and it shows a better way of understanding info. We've also been finishing our post off and our class survey.

The time we get to go on our Netbooks, is the most interesting learning part in our literacy. I am really excited about going on our Netbooks in the morning most of the time and I can't wait to take them home.

My Holiday Highlight

‘Oh yeah she’s here!’ ‘Helen wake up,’ wake up. Rubbing my eyes, my sister yelled to me that the technicians have to go to school. I chucked my clothes on and raced off. This was during the school holidays.

As I finally arrived, I caught up with Mrs Burt. She explained to me that the top three technicians were heading down to Glenbrae. The reason why was because we have to image the 30 Netbooks, back at school we did 300.

The chosen technicians at their school had already unpacked them, that was a relief. Me,Sela and the adult helpers pitched in and showed the process we went through. We ran through it once again but just themselves.

We soon finished after a good half an hour of non-stop work. Finished with all the Netbooks, Sela and I chattered excitedly to ourselves about our highlights in the holidays.

Mrs Burt swooped over and told once they’ve finished, we can grab a feed at nosh. This place was a fancy sort of place, where most people that can actually afford the food go to.

Sela made me giggle when she said ‘is their a dress code for Nosh?’ ‘I replied no it’s fine. Everything had been completed so we packed up and left. Getting in the car me and Sela talked among ourselves until we arrived.

We came across the fancy supermarket slash cafe. We both grabbed a cold beverage (juice) and a slice of bacon and egg pie. Thinking this is probably my highlight so far. What a day!

29 Miners Confirmed Dead

Devastating news coming about the 29 miners. As most of us have already heard in newspaper, from reporters and live news another explosion occurred in Grey mouth, the police informed us that miners were confirmed dead . Many family’s are grieving and took part on the service where they all gathered together to remember their loved ones.

At the Pike river the youngest miners aged to the oldest (17-62) have been trapped underground with their desperation levels rising. Another massive blast occurred and based on the explosion experts believe no one could have survived. This all started on Friday and continued on as the miners family’s ask to remove their body's.

Only two miners survived who managed to escape before the commencing of the blast. It has been said that altogether there has been 4 explosions.

Ultimate Athletes

Thump! As the ball landed out of the school grounds, laying on the field. Shaniah finished having her throw, It finally reached my turn. The noise of my supportive friends encouraged me a lot. I was focussed and ready I leaned over and bent down to pick the ball, I threw as far as I could.

Athletics already began, it was an annual event displayed every year at our school field. This is to find our elite athletes in each activity. Many people came dressed up in their house colours Takitemu,Te Arawa, Tainui and Mataatua.

My highlight would have to be Softball throw and Discus. The reason why was because Ms T announced that I came first in Softball throw. Another reason was that I came first and then suddenly I was knocked out by Racheal in discus. A new experienced sport we never knew how to play, was javelin, you were given a technique to follow. You had to pretend it was like a dart, slide it through your ear and aim down.

Now I can’t wait until Interzone (This Wednesday)!

Studying a new way

All the times that we presented, conferenced and shared why we want this Netbook so badly, has finally payed off. Actually fulfilling our dreams of getting our Netbooks, and now we have the opportunity to muck around with it and use it for learning for the rest of the term.

We're posting this piece of writing to share the cool experience with you. It was a exhilarating feeling for me to be able to be the first year sevens in the Tamaki cluster to use our flash Netbooks. Can't wait until next year when we actually keep them!

Fia Fia Night

Puffed out and breathing heaverly for being Mr Burt’s runners, actually distracted me from feeling nervous on the hours of darkness . Jogging going zic zac through classes checking they were organized and ready for the big event . Our Fia Fia night which means entertainment had kick off at 7pm, but it seemed like everyone was here when dropping their child at 6 o’clock.

One thing that really shocked and showed the goose bumbs in me was the amount of guest that showed up, 7 o’clock was the kick off start to our gathering. It looks as though everyone tried to get a front row seat. As we all cramped up in the hall and the breeze, our new foyer.
We quickly got settled and finally started.

After all this practise it finally lead up to this night. Sneaking around I took a peak at some of the costume. It was mostly the girl's that looked stunning. It was nice to get complements from parents and friends at the end.

In MihiMihi, one of our new rooms. I'm testing out to see which laptop the kids at our school are going to have. I'm really happy to see which one of the laptops we're going to choose. We have choices of having Eee PC, MSI Wind, and Classmate. My best choice is having Eee PC. The reason why is that it has a bigger key board and it's lighter for others to carry. The operating system on the computer (Jolly Cloud) is faster and everything runs smoothly, plus the speaker is really loud which is good.

Riley's Birthday At Chipmunks

Ahh! As I yawned. Waking up early at 6am on Saturday was because it was my baby cousin [Riley’s] birthday. The birthday party was held at Chipmunks in Henderson, down the road where we played rugby against Henderson intermediate.
Kick off was at 1 o’clock.

Filled with so much excitement, I had butterfly’s tickling my stomach. Ha ha! I keep on giggling I just can’t help it, I’m to over excited. Arriving there was even more pleasant because I couldn’t wait to go on the popular slide.

Later approximately 5 past 1 everybody arrived then, that’s what usually happens at celebrations. The room was getting more crowded as more family members entered the room. Even some of the adults and parents were trying to look from outside.

Happy Birthday to you x2, we all said ‘Hooray’, when you tried to touch the flame on the candles. Hip hip, hooray x2, we all had a nice meal and all the kids rushed off to play. I straight away went on the slide and reached the top.

‘Quickly’, said my cousin we raced down the slide. Watch out! It was like a snake track too many little kids at corners trying to climb up again. Since their were too many children I went to the jungle and climbed up till I got to this slide. Wow! This slide is the bomb it goes so fast like skate boarding down a steep hill.

This was such a fun day it was really quite a turn out and it was really good to be surrounded by my family again.

My MI Test

This term when we have e-learning we go on the computers we have a opportunity to be able to take our Multiple Intelligence test to see what smart's we are. It shows that I'm mostly music smart and people smart. The smart that was low for me was picture smart. I think that I need to study at home and try my best even when I don't know the answers. I want to at least improve in an area so that I can be proud.

We had 40 questions overall to answer and then finally we got our answers back. Here is my results.

Holidays Aren't So Bad

No! After ending such a fun day of Term 2, I was planning what I was going to do in the 2 week holidays. I'm a person who doesn't like weekends, holidays it's so boring nothing to do at all. I planned to go out bowling and to play with my closes friends, just to keep my happy mood continuing.

So far I've been to ten pin bowling with Victoria and my dad, it was such a blast. We mostly spent time playing 1 and $2 games. My best game was the basket ball game because I got most of my goals in. We quickly rounded up all the tickets we had won from playing all the games, in total we got 197.

Already on Thursday we've gone to Pakuranga, me and Victoria browsed around the store while my sister went shopping. We heard a crowd cheering and I was thinking what is that sound. I headed down with Victoria and saw that people were auditioning for 5 minutes of fame, the acts and performances were so cool.

The winners of the competition was this 12 year old boy Sam[1st place] and a 16 year old girl came 2nd. Both place getters won a Panasonic radio and they'll be in the finals to challenge the others that won.

Then the next day on Friday on the second week of the holidays. Victoria's family and I were going out to go to rainbow's end, but telling by the weather we knew that it wouldn't be happening. All of us were disappointed about it and thought that we can still go out. Instead we went to watch a movie at Hoyts. It was Toy Story 3 in 3D.

It was really cool when we sat down in the cinemas, on the screen it said put your 3D glasses on. In the beginning there was a preview of Avatar, I thought that it really did look real and his eyes really glowed.

My favourite part of Toy story 3 is when Ken tells Barbie how to reverse Buzz lightyear back to his normal self, they tried to do it and instead he starts to speak Mexican.

I had a great time playing and going out in these active events. I had heaps of fun and holidays aren't so bad, now I don't want to go back to school.

Kapa Haka

In most schools they have a Kapa Haka group that performs in front of many live audiences. Our Kapa Haka group is very talented and is very good for beginners. Their first performance started last Friday, I could tell some were timid but they took time and started to open up.

Seeing them walk on the stage with the really cool costumes and creative hair styles, was great to see. I really thought that they stood out as a group and looked like professionals.

During the middle part of their song they started to sing louder and became more confident. Some faces looked happy and some still new to it. I reckon they did really good and started to feel like they wanted to do this again.

Hopefully they will enter a competition and win, because we will be there to support them. But I enjoyed this performance and rate it 9 out of 10, but still think they can reach 10/10.

They were given an opportunity to be able to perform at the Auckland Museum last,last Sunday. Because room 14 at our school won an award for the best stortelling and gave them a chance to perform.

Mt Eden Animation

This term we had to create a Auckland volcanic animation, this was due today. I had fun drawing the stacks and making it detailed. I think I did well with my graphics and that I know more about Mt Eden then before. It was great to see that I was able to finish it on time.

Playing Rugy Against Bader

Walking excitedly to school, I felt hyped up and wanting to play rugby already. I meet my friends at the front of the gate they were talking about what Bader were going to be like, scary or the opposite. Starting school I was so eager to play.

It was time to go, we rushed with our gear to the library and got changed into our rugby uniforms ready for action. Our kickoff started at 12 o'clock straight after morning tea. Getting warmed up on the field and practicing, there were a group of rugby teams heading towards the field, it was Bader Intermediate.

Both teams were here including the boys team because they were playing straight after us at 1 o'clock. Mr Jacobsen (our referee) called them onto the field. Some of us were feeling afraid and some were confident. Our captain Sela, lead us onto the field and the starting whistle blew.

Sela kicked the ball and two of our players chased it, some stayed for backup. The opposition had the ball and ran with Sela eyeing them up and tackling them every minute. There were some good tacklers and some really fast runners.

Sadly our team lost but we still had pride in ourselves. We had fun playing against them, and talking while the boys were playing. They were a good team and supportive towards our players, we had a fair match. Finishing our game we did a little curtain for the boys.

Our netball Game

Our Year 7 Aces Netball Team had a very tough game last week. We played down at Morrin Road and played against Royal Oak . They were a very good team at defence and nearly managed to catch up to us, some how we were better in the last round and got in most of our shots.

Because we were in our flash new uniforms we just had to win, plus this game was a grading game. We were one of the teams in our top grade. We did really well and had some great defence in some parts. We had a good game and hope to improve next week. Our player of the day was Me. Yay!

My favourite part was when our team received a lollie pop from Bobbi-Grace's nana. At the end Mrs Nua forgot to give our score sheet to the office so I ran in the rain and gave it to the receptionist.

Masquerade Ball

I'm so excited! I got the chills as I walked down the red carpet out on the main doors of our hall. On Saturday the 22nd of May we had our masquerade ball held at our church. I walked on the red carpet feeling like I was actually on a real live TV show on the celebrity carpet, with Mrs Tele'a filming me and my friend walking down the aisle.

The reason why we had this was because that day was our 30th Anniversary of our church, starting from the time it was built. Each year we would celebrate, with the teachers discussing every year what theme we would have. I really found this theme interesting and fun.

I was so eager to look and see what others dressed up like and the cool masks they were wearing. Walking in the hall, I saw really cool decorations. There were tables with pretty lights in it, lanterns hanging from the ceiling and some poster's on the wall to make it much better to stare at. Because it wasn't as packed yet, we waited a little while longer for more people to arrive so that we could start.

We had many prizes to give out and a black pearl to be won. This fine pearl flew in from the cook Island and their was a draw to be won. I had a great time looking at the performances like the dances and singing. Some of it were so funny and unexpectedly surprise you. But it was such a enjoyable night we had.

On the night my favourite best dressed was worn by Ata, with her lovely white ball gown slash wedding dress. It's really hard to describe it. That night I was wearing a black dress, with a white short cardigan, a grey mask and heaps of jewellery.

This is a memory never to be forgotten and it was a great 30th Anniversary celebration.

My Personal shields

Onto the final step! Last Term we've been working on our personal Shields we created. First of all we will practise by making a draft in our books. After I chose my diamond which is my favourite shape, inside I would rule 4 parts and in those spaces they will have a meaning to each of them.

On the top right I drew some things that were part of my culture, the opposite side on the left I drew my hobbies. The bottom left I draw-ed what I wanted to be when I grow up and the other side next door I decided just to decorate my name in it.

I reakon I did well on my project. I finished it on time. I would rate it 9 and a half.

Try and guess what I was trying to draw. I had heaps of fun doing and decorating this to make it something about me.

My volcano stack and five fabulous facts

As you already know you've seen many volcano stacks lately. Here is my one I created and my five fabulous facts.

1. In Auckland we have 48 volcanoes near us and they are mostly cinder cone.

2. Mt Peele in west Indies is a plug dome, it can erupt violently

3. Mt Ruapehu had erupted in 25th September 2007, it was a huge explosion.

4. Most volcanoes are found on the edge of plates.

5. The last time Rangitoto erupted erupted was 600 years ago.

Speaking Out To The Mayor

Oh my gosh! We're speaking to the Mayor. This is so nerve racking, I've spoken to heaps of visitors but never the mayor. Sela, Tia and I were the Welcoming Committee. We went out to the front car park waiting nervously thinking if he was going to come here in a limo or something. We were chattering excitedly, also wondering if the mayor was going to show up or not.

Suddenly some man in a fancy car appeared driving past us staring, I was thinking who is he then I thought harder, that's the mayor of course. We raced to his car, when he said "where should I park my car?" We replied"just straight ahead I think.

As he came out we introduced ourselves and told him to follow us this way. Then Mr Banks spotted that we had a cow paddock right next to our school and thought it was really cool. Finally we went inside and it began.

I was feeling pretty confident then I was before. When we were at the end I was feeling really proud and happy when it was over. We all sat on the table and discussed what we could do to solve our problems.

In the beginning we talked about the issue how we have problems with our local pool and our own beach. What really had me hooked was when Mr banks invited our class as well as us to come to his office and have morning tea. He said this is a learning journey.

But before any of that can happen. First step of our learnig journey, we need to make a 15 min presentation to the community board. Then we would send an email to the chairperson Kate Sutton and copy it to the mayor. Next step we would state the issue and request an audience with the board. 3rd step if there's no action then we would go to the ACC Website and would have a council meeting or go to the events committee.

I felt really empowered when he told us this because we were working kids, just like young adults. Who would know where it can lead us to. Fame and fortune, we could be the mayor's secretary. I'm really looking forward to this interesting journey and the delicous morning tea after all the hard work. Isn't this a speacial event to look forward to.

Mother's Day

Mother"Happy Mother's day!" I said to my mum. I gave her my present for mother's day and gave her a hug. Normally on a Sunday we would go to church with all the mother's and grandma's their, lining up some where and we would come around giving them a lollie necklace or a gift. Then we would get ready as soon as church finishes and start.

As I was still walking after going past many people, heaps of Mother's especially the Nana's and grandma's had most of lollie necklace around their neck. As that would finish we would have a big feast. Normally the mother's go out, but I think that they just wanted to have it together just this one time.

Arriving h0me as soon as I could I hugged my mum one last time and ate her lollie necklace together. My Nana came home with many lollie necklaces, and I know where I'll be going after church. I had a great time together with my mum! Hope you other mother's enjoyed yourMother's Day 's day!

What a Lucky baby

As you know on April the 5th is Easter Monday. On that day it was my baby cousin Austin's birthday. I was amazed how fast his 1st birthday arrived and happened today. I was so, so excited. We got ready and got picked up by my auntie and drove down to Cornwall Park- that's where the birthday was held. We arrived and realized that we needed more things. So we went back and forth until we had everything we needed.

When that trip ended we finally got to go out and explore the place. It was really packed, you could see all 7 grills being used. I saw Austin with his mum being fed. He looked really cute and handsome in his green Samoan t-shirt. While we unwrapped all the food more people arrived. We were finally all ready and started the Birthday.

We all grabbed a plate and dug in. The food was tastey and mouth watering like grilled kebabs, sweet and sour, the grilled meat, bacon and egg potato salad and much more. When we finished we went and played volley using my sister as the net, also passes and touch with the boys.

There was a final thing to do; blow the candles on the birthday cake and have dessert. It was so painful having to light the candle and having the wind blow it out every time. But finally we got it and lowered him down so he could blow it out. Yay! He did it. We sang happy birthday in English and Samoan. Then we had some moist fudge brownie, the cute giraffe birthday cake and last of all the colourful fruit kebabs. We played a last game of soccer, it was so funny. Later we said good bye as people left and packed up the marquee.

Lastly there was a funny part. A random little boy came and stole Austin's green big bouncy ball and ran away with it. But luckily I got it back. That was a beautiful birthday and a memory to remember!

Tuakana Teina

Some days after lunch time our class get together with the year 1 classes and help them with their e-learning. Our goal as a Tuakana is to help the little ones with some simple skills. For example saving their work that's a hard one and making sure it's in the right place. That will help them in the future so they can learn and do the same for others. I think that it's really helpful and it's a great example to the little kids. It's a great experience.

Urban Beat- A dance group

On Thursday the same day we had Tech, round about in the afternoon there was a surprise for us. Mrs Nua said that it was alright for us to wear track pants. I was thinking why? It was because their was a dance group waiting for us in the hall to teach us a couple of cool dance moves. First they introduced themselves and then we went straight into it. We started off with some warm ups and then learned some easy moves. When we got the hang of it and we finished, each time we would would say ohhh!

Later on we would have dance battles. It wasn't boys and girls it would be like a mix thing. We would be divided and put into a group with one of the dancers. The aim was we would do one dance move counting 8 beats, then point to another team. You would get out by not doing the same moves or getting out of time. Then we did some more dancing. I really enjoyed doing this it was really great.

My Highlight for camp-Dunker

First of all the dunker was the scariest and the funniest game you would want to play! If you don't know what it is, it's that game when there's a person sitting on the seat and underneath the seat is a little pool they will fall in. But that will happen when you chuck the ball at the button. You might have seen these on a TV programme or you might have heard it. You will have 3 throws. When I was on the seat I was vibrating and I had butterflies in my stomach.

Smack! I fell straight away in the cold water with my ugly facial shown in the little see through window. Luckily no one was watching. It was such a great experience to try. In my mind I was thinking my first target is Tamati because he's the one who got me out. But someone already got him out, what a bummer. You should try this. It's really fun, also it's really refreshing too. That was my best highlight for camp.

Camp Kindness

Yay! I'm extremely excited and ready for camp. I arrived here with my day pack ready and my good attitude. I walked around school and saw that there's already tents being put up. We all went in the hall and had a little talk and reminders. Then all the year 7's went to the marquee and helped put the rest of the tents up,and make sure that the peg is in properly.

At camp we did some really cool activities like Waka Ama, swimming at YMCA, going to the Rec- centre near Tamaki college, Archery, log joust, dunker, learning some dance moves from urban beat and going to swimarama at the end of the day. It was a blast at camp especially with the yummy food we ate. We were all really excausted and couldn't wait to go sleep. Hmmm! Hopefully next year will be better.

Graphics at Tech

On Thursday even though we were on camp we still had tech. I was thinking hopefully we would do something really fun and we did.

We were lucky that day because we were able to go on the computers in the ICT lab. We signed in as the login we got given. Next we went in to Adobe Illustrator and created different sorts of shapes, played around with the colours,strokes and the gradient box. It was very colourful and and we created these designs. This part of graphics was the best thing we did at tech. I wish we can carry on and keep doing these kinds of things at tech. This was a funky picture I designed during tech at Tamaki. I found it really fun colouring it in with the gradient box,because you can add all sorts of colours in to it.

Our Korero Comic life

In the past days we've been working on our project that Mrs Nua gave for us to do. We got given a school Korero and had to do 4 more of them. So then we can go around taking photos and showing what kind of korero we did. We got put in 5 groups of 5 and went around doing the photos. We also had to include a photo with an adult. The korero we got given was use your W.I.T.S. and 4 others, Bin it, stop think and do,Be nice to the grass and garden and play the right way.

Our Class Acrostic Poem

Yesterday we made up a Acrostic Poem that had something to do with our school or Topic. Each groups in our class made a rap or a song. It had to rhyme, make sense,you had to be confident and you had to have a loud volume when you say it. When we were working on it we all picked our favourite rhyme and put it together and some we just made up. We finished the whole thing and went outside to rehearse it.

We all had wacky ideas and thought about doing a beat box thing but then, our reliever said what about you just make sure you say the ending words properly and have good rhythm. Then our teacher said 'it's time to come inside'. We were panicking and hoping we weren't first. I was begging my fingers please, please don't be first and then she said Sione group and then followed by our group. We were so shy and nervous some people in my group were pushing each other in front so no one can see them. Then we started to say our rap it was funny.

Being A Year Seven

Being the first ever year seven's in the history of Pt England feels really special because it's the first. It still feels a little bit of the same like I'm still a year six. But with different teachers and classes and the rest. I am really looking forward to the new things we are going to do this year and the changes we make as being a intermediate. Like if kids listen to what we say and they follow what we do.

One of the exciting things I am looking forward to is getting to have a new classroom, doing art, tech, graphics and cooking at Tamaki. I'm wondering what kinds of things there are going to have for us next. Like camp, trips, new awards for prize giving and others. But I really like it still being here as a Pt Englander it feels really fantastic to hear people call me a intermediate. Thanks for hopping onto my blog and hearing what I have to say as being a year seven.

Our school is pretty famous here because we have technology that some schools don't even have. Plus we do podcasts, PENN and way more cool things that people don't even know what it is.

This year we've had a group of kids who present to hundreds and thousands of people from all around the world. Our job is to show the visitors what we do at our school and things that help us to learn and get better at literacy. We present to many people from all over the world like the world famous actor Will Smith - seriously, who would ever get to talk to Will Smit? I think that our team of presenter's are very special and talented kids.

Last Night Of The Production

"Sela I need to go to the toliet", I whispered. I was so anxious and shy to get out there. My heart felt like it was swinging forward and back. I was shaking like a vibrating chair. We were waiting for our que outside the music room where I was sweating. I heard the sound of the shop keeper closing the toy shop on Zip Zap Avenue. I was so filled with joy that I started to become hyper active like on Alvin and the chipmunks when they drank coffee. "What's that I hear?" I said to myself. "It's showtime" yelled Jordan P and Sione. That was our que to come in and sing our main song.

I felt a little ashamed seeing my parents on the side. I went jumping with excitement hoping my parents wouldn't embarrass me. Then we finished the last part of the song. The lights were so bright that I looked down. We rushed back to the music room through the dark corridors and back into the normal light. I quickly got ready for the transformers performance which was the second act but the first dance. At that moment I started to get major butterflies and felt so thrilled because that dance was the best robot dance that we've ever done before.

We were in our positions backstage on the right wing while the pied piper and his rats were playing the flute. It was great because in the back round there were singers singing a song called 'follow me' by Mr Music J (the tall one). Jordan P said, "We've forgot to open up the transformer box". This was our que to transform. Our dance was funky. There were 2 main transformers Bobbi-Grace and Jacob A.K.A Optimu Prime and Bumble Bee.

We got to our last part the finale. We stand up in our groups and bow down. The last but not least the thank you. We gave flowers to all the helpers that did the dancers, design costumes, setup the stage and did all the technical things. Also to our parents for supporting us in this event our school production 2009.

Father's Day

Yeah oh Yeah! After church we went over to my Auntie's house and had a celebration and a BBQ. I was so excited because my cute, chubby, long eye lashes baby cousin Austin came over. I was extremely excited that I started to shake.
We got there and had a big feast. The food looked so yummy and soy saucy. I just wanted to eat all of it myself. We said the prayer and digged in. I had 2 pieces of chicken wings,1 sausage,some potato and steak. My mouth was so watery. When I finished eating I went to go sit down and watch TV and in the window I saw there car coming. I jumped out of the chair and ran outside to go and see him. He was sleeping but he looked so cute. Lily gave my uncle a lollie necklace and gave a present for the whole family. It was a photo frame of Austin it had 5 pictures of him. We all looked at it and went ohhh. Finally he woke up we all had a turn holding him. He was so talkative and always had facials. After that we had delicious custard pie made by my auntie. Then we were finished and went to watch wipe out Australia. It was hilarious. We watched it for a while but then my dad came so we had to go home. We arrived there and had a nice sleep. Hoped you enjoyed your Father's day.

The Three Tiny Pigs

This Term we have been making animations about a fairy tale. It was based on our topic Art in story telling. Our teacher came up with a wicked idea. She said what if we can add a twist so we did. We called it twisted fairy tale[T.F.T]. So I am going to explain to you what our movie is about. There were three cute tiny pigs playing on the playground. One of them decided to build his own house because he always have to share with the twins. So the twins became jealous and thought they could do better.

So they each went off building there own houses. Buk the eldest made his house out of chocolate, crush made his house out of colourful candy and eddy made his house out of rock cake. Along came little green candy she was hungry and just loved candy. So she gobbed up Buk's house .Then she saw a long drive way she went through it and she saw the candy house. She thought to herself I'm still not full so she ate it all up. She carried on her journey to her grandmothers house. On the way she saw Eddy's rock house she took a bite and her teeth started to fall out one by one. She grabbed her basket and went off.

Then the 3 little pigs came back and saw that all their houses had disappeared except for Eddie's house. Eddie looked at his house carefully and saw a green strip that came from a type of clothing and a tooth. So they went in his house and scanned it. The paper came out and it said little green candy hood. So they searched for little green candy hood. The End

An Amazing Outing

Hooray! I've been waiting for this since last last week. I invited my friends [Kezia and Destiney] to come with me to an outing which is to go bowling,burger king,YMCA and the park at Salima talangi . I was over excited and got ready straight away at 10;00 . So I walked over to the sitting room to watch some TV until they came. It was about 10;50 and I saw some one come in it was Destiney I quietly screamed in my mind and just wanted to leave,not without kezia of course. We started eating some chippy's and heard the phone ring it was Kezia she rang just in time for us to go and pick her up . So we walked to her house and came back so that we can all go with my mum and sister.

My uncle arrived and dropped us off to panmure. We put all our stuff away and ran down to ten pin bowling. What was funny was that instead of playing ten pin bowling we spent all our time and money playing one and two dollar games. Like air hockey, shoots, this game where the light spins around then you try and hit the button on the spinner zone then you hit it again and if you get it you get 500 tickets. Last of all a game where you move the crane pick up a chocolate and chuck it on this plat form then this thing will push the chocolate and the chocolate will fall and you get it and eat it. It was amazing we had 40 chocolate.

After that we went down to burger king and had a feed. we had the 3 for five dollar meal and also sticked on our cool freddo tattoo on our hands that we won from the machine. We all got the same meals sundaes,cheese burger and a drink. It was so cool we were talking and laughing at the same time. Once we finished we walked down to my mum's work and started painting and drawing our names then we would decorate it. After that we went outside and played shoots and tiggy. Then we came back inside and wanted to play hide a seek. Destiney counted and me Kezia hid. It was so hard for hear to look for us she took about 10 minutes. Then she finally saw us we got ready to catch the train.

Off we go we walked over to the train station next to KFC. When we were there we started to race down the stairs and play tiggy. Then I heard this sound it was the train we ran over in case we miss it. We trained down to Glenn Innes and walked to YMCA pools. The weather was sizzling I couldn't wait to touch that cold pool. Finally we put our stuff in the changing room and power walked to the cold pool. Ahhh that's better. My friends and I played freeze,tiggy,this race game and played this game when you have to go under their legs. We stayed in the pool for 2 hours. Then we got changed and walked back to our houses. What a spectacular day that was!

Grade 9 and 10 family service

It was a nice sunny morning when I remembered that 6Th of September was Father's day. I helped my mum setup breakfast for dad. He had delicious eggs,chewy bacon,burnt toast and tea his favourite hot beverage to top it off. We also helped him to get ready for work and kissed good by.We also needed to get ready for church. Once we were ready we went to church and saw that it was full and packed. It was like every one finished work and was trying to get home but they were stuck in traffic. Finally I searched for a seat and found one next to a girl. Luckily I just came just in time when they were getting ready for there play.

At the start there was a song above this scene where it was morning a girl by the name of Josy woke up and got ready for Sunday school.She went in the car with her family when they were listening to music. She went high and sounded off. Her family were telling her that she couldn't sing. So they arrived at church at went off to Sunday school. It was nice because there teacher sang to them saying words and they replied back by doing the same.

My favourite part was when they did a show called name that talent. It was when this girl named Valu her and her 2 friends were acting out a part in high school musical when they were holding auditions for the song it's hard to believe. The girl was saying it's hard to believe and the boy copied her and doing actions to. There was also another one I liked it was when my brother and his two other friends were doing a ballerina act where they spun around and how one person had to catch the person running and hold them in the air. Every one cracked up and laughed loud. The next part was when Josy was singing when no one was around but a boy came and heard her sing. He told her to take his part because he was in an accident. She was afraid to but she managed to do it . So her parents came and saw her and thought Oh no she can't sing,so when they were about to leave they heard her voice and thought it sounded beautiful.

So the moral of the story was if you have a talent don't hide it show it. Some people might not realize your good until they hear or see you do it. When you grow up you might be given an opportunity to show your talent,people might even think your good. Don't be shy be confident. Show your true feelings and don't keep it inside. To be continued

Today in extension I went on one of my blog post that had a long story. So that I could put it on wordle and design it. I picked my late birthday because it had a long piece of writing. It was so awesome getting to do things like this on the computer and I like to go on it all the time. In the afternoon at extension Mrs Burt showed us how to use this website called wordle. Wordle is a website that has all the words that you use in a blog. So it shows the words that you use the most,or words that you use. She showed us many different colours and fonts you can use. I was sad because there was so many of them that I liked and it was so hard for me to pick the one that stood out. So I asked my friends that were next to me and they made it very easy to pick. Meeting world famous Hamish Campbell

Earthquake! It was a fine morning at 9 am when our smart extension group got to talk to Hamish Campbell a Geologist and his partner Dianna [she works at Te Papa museum]. Mr Burt and a few other kids help to set up a video conference with him also he taught Mrs Tele'a to work the buttons on the remote.Here is picture of us in Tusitala.

We got to ask him questions about the earthquake that happened in Fiordland. Fiordland is at the bottom of the South island. Some earthquakes are so fast that you cant even feel them. That's how fast they are. Isn't that wicked.

We all met at Tusitala [a new room that has just been built]. We had some technical difficulty but got every thing under way. We saw Dianna and Hamish Campbell . Hamish told us some very interesting facts about the earthquake. Did you know that it is the biggest earthquake that has happened in 80 years. He said that when he went to dinner he felt the earthquake,it lasted for 15 seconds. He also said some bad news. The sad news was that Joan Wiffen a famous paleontologist died at the age of 87. Did you know that she was the first ever paleontologist in New Zealand to find a fossil isn't that amazing. But he said that he went to her funeral to represent Te Papa. What a nice man.

He taught us many things that some of it I didn't understand, but he made it so easy for us to know what it means.He explained how the earthquake happen but he said it lasted for 30 seconds. Plus he also told us about an earthquake that happened in Tangshan in 1976. It destroyed and killed 242,000 people and heaps were badly injured. He also told us that they named an Earthquake and it was called A Dusky sound.

Then he told us about the 2 plates. The Australian and the pacific plate. The Australian plate is the one on top and the pacific plate is under.It also reverse so it was the opposite and the other way around. If you put your right hand and just slightly slide it underneath your left hand that's how it is.

I just want to say thank you to Dianna Grace and Hamish for wanting to conference with us and using their time to talk to us about the earthquake. I have learnt heaps and I know that one day someone will ask about the earthquake and I will say that we had a conference with him in August the 5Th. I appreciate all the facts that you have taught us and hopefully we will get to see you again.

Art in Storytelling

Have you seen my princess my one and only true love said Mr Burt.We danced last night at the ball, we said no and so did the parents.He walked down the ile with a green type of clothing on that men wear at their ball.I was saying in my mind what a funny start to the term.We started of with the korero Mr Burt said if you get this korero you get two stickers.Go! April from room 17 was the first hand up.She got it right it was keep it real and keep trying.Altogether she got 3 stickers 1 for sitting up and 2 for getting the korero right.

First up was team 1 they had different teachers coming up and letting the children having a try at guessing what they dressed as. Mrs Jarmen was up first she was acting as chicken little with a acorn on her head. Next was Miss Barks she was Goldilocks,you can tell because she had porridge and gave it out to children. Their were 4 people that got it they were so lucky. So then it was Mrs loal turn she was dressed as a princess that had to kiss a frog . Then it was Mrs Jarmen's turn she was dressed as chicken little with a hat that had brown leaves on it. After that it was Ms Wild turn she was little red riding hood,she had a red coat with a basket of goodies.To be continued

Trip to the Museum

On Wednesday June 24th the Year 6 extension group went with the Year 5 children. We went to Auckland War Memorial Museum . We joined with Rooms 14, 15 and 16. In my group was Kezia, Paulitia, Moses and Blessing. Our parent helper was Paulitia's older brother Peleti.

We went with Room 15, marked the roll, then we got into groups of 5 or 6. After that we all met in the hall and made sure we had everything we needed. So we left class by class and walked on the bus to find ourselves a seat. We travelled slowly on the bus and had a bumpy ride.

When we arrived we turned with a bump and the bendy bus looked like it was going to separate. We got off the bus and went into the museum. At first it looked very cool and different from when I last saw it. So we walked to the entrance and when I looked around it felt like it was a whole new place. We sat down and all got together and put away our bags in something that was like a cage, like a huge locker. After we got all of it under way we walked on the red carpet. I felt like I was a celebrity so I was pretending I was one! I was also imagining that there were paparazzi taking my photos.

We walked in and saw some neat chairs that I've never seen before. But one of them was like a chair you can get from Harvey Normans called a Lazy Boy. But any way, when we went past all these amazing artifacts we arrived at this lab which had a movie playing and also on the right side there was a path. When you walked on it it will lead you to a glass and underneath it was an underwater world.We went around looking at different stuff.

Finally went exploring the Museum until it was home time. Me and Kezia were pretending that we were spies.Finally it was over so we went back to school and had our lunch. We also had extra free time and then we had to go back to class when it was finished. What a day!

My late birthday

On Saturday the 13Th of June I woke tried to find my mum because I thought she made us breakfast but she didn't.So I was thinking maybe I should make my home made pickletes so I did. I told my brother that I'll get him when I am up to the stage of putting the mixture in the fry pan.I got all the ingredients out and all the equipment I needed.

Then it was time to cook the picket. I put in all the ingredients and combined it together. Then I started to get the fork or whisk but I don't have one and stirred all the ingredients and kept doing for a little bit more until it was nice and smooth.Then my mum came she put in some water and it was silky and tender. I turned it on and put in the oil in the fry pan. Then I waited a little while for it to heat up then I put the mixture in and and it was so skinny but had a nice brown tan. I could see bubbles so I flipped it,it was golden brown and flat.I kept doing it until I could see that the mixture was nearly finished. Then when I finished I put nutella and 1 piece of banana on the top.It was yummy and fabulous.

After I had to peel the potato for the salad because at my auntie's house we were going to have and Barbecue.So I was thinking of inviting my friends over.So I had to ask my mum and she said yes and I was so happy.I went to ring them,first I rang Kezia if she could come and she said yes and then I rang Sela and she said yes to.So then I got ready and so did my sister because she was our guardian.When we got all the things we needed we went straight to pick up Sela.When we arrived their I went in and Sela gave me a gift and flowers how nice I said.Then off we went to pick up Kezia. I went in and I got Kezia and went to pak'n save to buy some snacks .When we finished we went straight to 10 pin bowling.It was just me and my 2 friends who were bowling.

We put on our shoes and started to bowl.All together we had 10 games and 20 turns how awesome that is.When I was up first bowling,I would always hear my sister moan. She told me to let the ball drop gently cause I would always make this banging sound on the ground.The first round I got 17.It was Sela's turn she got 15 and Kezia got 16. Sela will always make me laugh because she kept laughing for no reason and you shouldn't of seen her face,it was going pink like she couldn't breath.kezia was amazing in the 3rd round she nearly got all of them but she missed two.It was tricky for her cause it was a split,she could either get the right or left.So then it was sela's turn did you know she got 2 strikes in a row amazing ha! Kezia was in the lead but then it was onto our last round the score went like this because sela got the most balls down she won by 102 whooh.

It was a good game and a excellent time we had together.So then we looked for the car it was parking right near the entrance.So we ran and hoped in the car.So our next stop was YMCA pools.When we got their we went to pay but we were off buy 50 cent. Luckily the lady was kind and still let us go.Then we went to go and get changed.when we finished me and Kezia went in the pool it was so warm but it wasn't cold as usual.Then Sela came in and we were swimming and splashing the water at each other.Then we were playing tiggy and Kezia always got to be in.After that we went in the other pool and it was hotter.We were having races and playing hand stands in the water it was so cool.Finally we finished and went out to get changed.

We walked and went in the car and had some shrew berry biscuit you know the one with the jelly inside and has different shapes like heart,star and circle.After that we arrived at my auntie's house.My friends and I went in and had some BBQ.It was delicious and tasty.I had enjoy my delightful meal and finished eating.Then We went on the mat and played a game of marbles,playing me,my brother,Sela and Kezia.It was funny but hard.It was hard because Eti would always win but finally for a change Sela won.Then my mum and my sister played so we played randomly.Then my auntie called to come and eat some pie[custard pie with cream on top].So we finished our meal had a 20 minute break and watched a movie.

Then it was time to drop off my friends ooh!We went in the car and dropped of Kezia first and then Sela.We said good bye to them and went home.When we reached home we got ready and had to go to my auncle's birthday.I had the best late birthday ever spending time with my family and friends.

Last day for Mrs Langitupu

Today on Friday week 6 on June the 5Th,it was our teacher Mrs Langitupu last day.All of us were very sad and felt like crying.So then in the morning me and Sam[semiliu] wrote a little letter to Mrs Langitupu but I had patrols.So lucky Sela came because she wrote it for me and we would say it in assembly.I would like to say thank you to Sela for helping me with it.So when we were finished we heard the bell ring and went to wait in line for Mrs Langitupu to come.Then after that we walked down into the hall and sat down and waited for assembly to start.So then the last classes came and assembly started.

At assembly we did the korero,their were about 6 I think. So we finished and it was time to hand out the certificates.When we were listening to all the names being called out.I heard Mr Burt say room 18 for being the best class in the planet so all of us stand up and then everyone gave around of applause when it finished.I was thinking in my mind that she was the best teacher because of what she did.After that me and Sam said a few words on behalf of our school and our class.Then we sang a song for her and played a video filmed by Cruz.It was so cool but sad.I really wanted to cry but I didn't want anybody to see me.Then we hugged her and gave some gifts.That was the best assembly for me.After that we did bin it awards and lunch box heroes.We also did a song with Mr Jacobson[the tall one].Then we went to class and did our work on dinosaurs I enjoyed it.It was the Meglosaurus.

Then we heard the beep for news we tidy up and had our fruit. Then the bell rang for morning tea.When we had morning tea we sat down and ate our lunch and went straight off to play.When I was playing I saw in the staff room all these teachers dressed up.So I asked one of the teachers what's going she replied that their dressed as twins you get it cause Mrs Langitupu is having twins.

After morning tea was finished we had CRE that stands for Christian,religious,education.Mrs Clarke runs it.It was so cool because we were learning about Moses.So Mrs Clarke showed us a video of the prince of Egypt.It was fun because when we finished watching a bit of it Mrs Clarke said that Moses agree with the Pharaoh to let the people go. He said yes but the Pharaoh thought he was lying so he didn't God was going to send down frogs from the sky and so she chucked out some chocolate freddos.Then she said that god sent some fly and she got a spray and sprayed it around the hall.Then she also said the big cubes of ice will fall from the sky.So she chucked out some Popsicle it was the flavour lemonade my favourite.

Then I noticed that our teacher was gone.when we went into class their was a table set up with food.It was a shared lunch and we were going to have one.We were listening to music,eating and drinking.We also had Donkun Donuts and hot chips too.It was all delicious and fatty food.I was enjoying it and having a great time with my friends and class mates.I was thinking I should eat some fruit and vegetables after all of this and also miss out on dinner.In the morning I'll go for a jog so I can burn all the weight I gained after eating all that food.Then we still had a little bit of time to play so I went out with my balloon and played a sword game with Beni and Kalim.Then I went to play with kezia and Paulitia.

After that we had Extension we were stuyding about paleontologist.If you don't know what that is it is a scientist that studies fossils and animals.We all picked one paleontologist and studied him.My one was Jack Honer.We got given a sheet and we had to fill it out.Then the school bell rang and we all went home. I was thinking what will it be like with out Mrs Langitupu.Anyways I will miss her now it's time to go and cry. PMI [Positive Minus Interesting]

On Monday in extension we got into 4 groups of 3 or 4 people.Then we got a big piece of paper and had to write down PMI which stands for Positive,Minus,Interesting,as you can see written on top.With that we got given a subject and we had to write down things that were we liked,things that we didn't like and things that were interesting for us.So in my group it was Sela,Paulitia,Bobbi grace and me.Me and Sela were writing and paulitia and Bobbi grace were coming up with ideas and so did we.

On positive we wrote pork bones are tasty,Flickr[Mihi],special VC[video conference,Row celebration,garage band and last of all keynote doing what food we ate in 1 a day.That is what our group thought I agree with all of them and the most that I like was how we woke up at 5am for our VC with America.It was so cool because they were asking as questions and we answered back.We also sang a song called Nga waka and Mrs Telea was playing the guitar.

Next was Minus things that we didn't like and needed to be fixed.On it was how we didn't get to VC with peru.I agree with that to and that is what I thought.

Last of all was Interesting something we really liked the most.What I liked the most was how we learnt different things like getting to go on google earth and having to find our restaraunt,the capital city and a restaraunt in the capital city. I know is sounds like a hard work it will at first but you'll get the hang of it.So then we had to read out what we have got so far. We got our bags and went just in time for the home bell to ring.

My fun day

On Sunday It was a great day for me except that I had 1 problem - I was exhausted because, you know how I had to go to our 29th anniversary at our church? Well, I went to sleep at 3:00 or 3:30 and woke up at 7:30 am so I only had 5 hours and 30 min of sleep. So then I woke up and went to watch TV. I waited for my sister and her friends Leah and Christine to wake up.

Someone knocked on the door and finally my sister woke up and told me to get the door. It was my auntie and my two cousins. So I sat down with my cousins and watched Wizard of Waverley Place.Then I heard my sister's friend wake up and they looked so tired. But then my Mum called out, "Time For Breakfast". I could smell the delicious food all the way from our sitting room to the kitchen so I raced and saw that she had made scrambled eggs, spaghetti and bread. I quickly got my food went to go and sit down so my food wouldn't be cold. I tasted it and I couldn't breathe because it was so nice. I stuffed it in my mouth. When I finished my meal I got dressed and my cousin walked me down to church.

When I arrived there they were doing an activity.What you had to do is you would be given a paper, there were some questions on it and you had to fill it in. Then you could go around and ask people if they can do it or if they have done it. For example; if someone has been on a aeroplane for the past 12 months, you write their name next to to the question and keep on doing the same thing until you finish. After that you have to make sure you ask that person instead of being lazy and just writing their name.

So then we sang songs and did our offering and went to class. When we got there we started off by saying our name and one of the highlights from our talent quest. You would know if you check out our blog. Just type in talo o Tamaki then click on Tamaki PIPC Sunday school. We did this because there was a new student joining our class. So then when we finished we did a lesson on Jesus and the good Samaritan. When we finished we had to pick something from our prize that we won We got 1st place. Our one was the thriller remix, so we did a mix of the parable of the 10 young girls and our wedding dance was thriller by Micheal Jackson.

So after that I went home with my sister and her5 friends Leah,Fou,Christine, Mitita and Alison.So when we got their we watched a little bit of TV.Then we became a little bit hungry so my mum suggest that we should walk down to Great Tong and eat their.So my mum offered money to us and so we walked down to Great Tong but we went the other way. So first we went to the chemist.Then we went to this store and bought ourselves some sprite and bubble gum.Then we walked down to Great Tong and ordered the $12 special and ate our yummy oily meal it was Delicious!So when we finished eating we went to MC Donald and bought ourselves 6 soft serves but Alison got 2 because mitita was full and didn't want any. She was lucky I said in my mind. So after that we crossed the road. When I ran my Ice cream fell but I wasn't the only one that had that happened to. The same thing happened to Alison but she had an extra cone.

So then we had church and after church I came back home and went to sleep.I had a Fun day! Do agree with me?

Tamaki P.I.P.C 29th Anniversary

On Saturday it was Tamaki's P.I.P.C. 29Th Anniversary.Together with that we had 2 up coming events which was Tamaki's got talent and our formal ball. It started at 6;00pm and went to 12;00 and it was held in our hall. I got dropped off to church and I saw heaps of black and yellow balloons tied onto our fence.When I went inside I saw all these girls dressed really nicely and some boys in their tuxedos. In the hall on the stage there was a sign that said Tamaki's got Talent and also yellow and black balloons,that stuck on the wall on top of white, long and wide paper.There were also tables out with balloons on it and a screen with the projector. It said happy 29th Anniversary on it. It was nicely decorated.

Then more people arrived and sat down on a table but people who came late some young gentlemen escorted them to a seat that was free. So then a woman named Rasalama went to the microphone and welcomed us all in the name of Jesus Christ and said a few words. After that there was a song playing and all the adults had to stand up with their partners and went in a circle and walked around showing their ball gowns.There was only 1 couple that I liked because of their dress,that was this girls mum and dad. Her name is Sia. Her mum's dress was red and had many hearts all over her dress also with a hat. It is very hard to describe what she was wearing. Her dad looked like a sheriff to me and had a black suit,with a badge also with these black cowboy shoes.

Next was the children's turn they did the same thing, I didn't really know who was my favourite but I'll tell you at the end if I remember, but any ways it was so cool. The song that they were playing was Jason Miraz, "I'm Yours". But I just finished having morning tea at my school and I just remember that I liked another 2 boys suits because they had hot pink for their ties, black suits and a black hat with it. I also liked this other boy's costume he had this mask on.sela pameka

So then we sat down and the talent quest began. First up was our kindy department. It was funny some didn't know how to dance and some did, so I was laughing.

My Holiday on Monday

On Monday at Pt england we had teachers only day.So we had a extra day off.In the morning I woke up brush my teeth and made breakfast for me and my brother while my sister went to school, my mum went to work and so did my dad.For breakfast I made picklets I got all the ingrediants and put them in the bowl and mixed them together.

Then I went to wake up my brother so that he can put the mixture in the frypan.At home we were having so much fun making the picklets I was fliping them and my brother was puting them in and they were big,nice looking picklets.All together we made four I hade 3 with maple syrup and my brother had 1 with maple syrup and some noodles.

Next we had to tidy up the house and vacum it to.So while I was doing all the hard work my brother wasn't doing anything except going on the computer at home and playing the piano.So I tidy up my sister room and vacumed it,I also did my parents room and vacum it.Plus I had to tidy the sitting room and the kitchen by myself with no help.Then finally he folded the washing that was dry.When we finished we played hockey in the living room.

So then we got ready and then we satrted to play hockey with my brothers cruches and used a wax lid and played.We played this because my brother was jealous of me because I would always win and he would lose.So then I said first one up to 10 would win and guess what I won by 10 because last one het's it in would get a bonus point which was 10.

So then my brother rang my auntie and ask if we could could come over and visit my baby cousin,she said yes.So while we were waiting we watched a little bit of some TV,we watched that so raven,then we turned it off and went outside to wait for my uncle to come.When we walked outside it was raining but luckily my auncle came just in time.

After that we went to my auntie's house,when we arrived my auncle wanted to hold my baby cousin [Austin] but my auntie was hogging him so she said no.When I got their I was holding him when my auntie finished hogging him.So I ate my cookie and watched TV.

Then my auncle called me and asked if I wanted to watch my baby cousin have a shower.He really likes it when he's in the bath,but he hates it when he has to wash his hair you can tell because he starts to cry and moves his legs and arms around.When he finished having a shower he got changed.Then my mum arrived and I had to go home.What a day I had!

Seeing my baby cousin

On Friday after that delicious Easter meal we had quite a lot of left overs. So we decided to wrap them up and give them to my Aunty Lily and Uncle Fa'alata who were newly made parents. My Aunty Lily gave birth to a beautiful baby boy called Austin one week before Easter Sunday.

We rang up and asked permission if it was alright with them that we could come over and see the baby guess what they said YES!. So we drove down to Mangere and got there at 7:36 pm. When we got out we could hear somebody coming,it was my uncle. I was so happy to see him again. We came in and saw the baby who was sleeping He looked so cute. We all had a turn to hold him. He was so light.

When he was awake my Uncle Fa'alata took him in his room and changed his nappy. He looked so long and so skinny, but then he started to become red and he started to cry. So then we thought that he could be hungry. So my Aunty Lilly was feeding him. By that time it was 8:30pm. I was feeling tired so we said good bye to Austin, my uncle Faalata and my aunty Lily. We all went home feeling tired. What a day.

Good Friday

On Good Friday we had a service at church.When we got dressed and got ready we left and arrived at church and had to sit with our family. Our service started at 10 o'clock am.Then it began. First thing we did was sing a song.Then we all sat down and listened to our minister.He was asking questions to us why this day is called good friday.I think it's because Jesus carried all our sins and died on the cross just to save our sins.It was sad and horrible for him but good for us. So while our minister was talking,there were also pictures matching what he was saying.So it made it more interesting.

When he finished he went to the stage where there was a table with drinks and bread.He got apiece of bread and said this is the body of christ break it in half.Then there were people that served us, once we have all got a piece of bread.Those people will come and it on the chair on the stage and the minister will hand out the bread to them.Then a person will get the bowl with bread amd give a piece to the minister.

When they're finished he says we shall eat in rememberence of me.Then he would do the same thing with the drink. He will say this is the covenant which is shown to you all drink it all of you in remembrance of me. Then we do a praise and worship.We sang a song called the old rugged cross.Then we ended it with a prayer.We all waited for the minister to go ,then we follow behind him.We shook his hand and left to go home.

Easter Sunday

On Sunday the 14th of April it was Easter, Easter Sunday. We had sunday school at church. It was fun because we were talking about Jesus and why this day is special. Well my answer to why this day is special, is because Jesus rose up. So we have Easter Sunday and Easter Monday because he got put into a tomb and in front of that tomb was a large stone oval like an Easter Egg. So then we had to write an acrostic poem and we had to write down easter egg along the side of our book.

Then our teacher told a parable of the 10 bridesmaids, 5 of them were wise and the other five were foolish. I think that Jesus was telling us keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. So that means always be prepared because you do not know the day or the hour. When we finished we got given 7 strips of paper with main parts of the story and we had to put them all into order.Then we were finished we did a prayer and got a marshmellow easter egg at the end.We all left and went home.

When I went outside I saw my auntie,I gave her a button easter egg and she gave me a gummy worm easter egg.I was so happy some body gave me an easter egg but I just want one not to much.So me and my dad went to get some lunch which was subway and went home.After that my auntie rang and said we were going to have a feast at her house.

Last day of the Term

Oh no! It's the last day of Term 1 on Thursday. It would have been on Friday but it's Good Friday on the following day. I am so depressed and angry. I don't want school to end for us. It was so fun going back to school and having a new class and a new teacher. I have enjoyed playing with my friends at morning tea and lunch. I have also liked learning new things and doing podcasting, blogging, presenting to visistors and doing jobs. I also loved Camp Aritika

I have done so much this year it has been so busy at our school. We have had TV 1 Close Up come to our school, a woman and a man from a magazine called Upstart come, visitors from all over the world from different schools and a man and his two partners come two see if our school is doing well and doing what we are suppose to do (ERO). He also interviewed some of the kids like the year 5 and 6 extension group and 3 year 4 kids. It was funny and cool. I was nervous at first but then I wasn't shy anymore. So our 5 presenters did our best and presented in front of these people. The presenters were me, Sela, Paulitia, Leoden, Tanielu and Cruz our technology person.

We have been working on our thank you letters for camp, to thank all of the parents and the teachers who helped out at camp. We also have been working on our mihi which we had to memorise off by heart. I know it all, and I have to do it in english and maori. I also have been working on my visual mihimihi and my holiday recount.

At the end of the term our presenters, including Cruz, went to Mrs Burt. She gave us one deluxe bunny; 3 were Cadbury and 3 were dark chocolate. I got Cadbury. I also got another Easter egg in class. It was a marshmellow one. I also got a Easter egg from my friend that had buttons inside but I gave it to my teacher. And last of all I got an Easter egg from my other teacher - a big marshmellow.

Then we had assembly, my principal was giving out Easter show tickets. Heaps of people won them and family tickets as well. Then we shouted out loud HAPPY HOLIDAY and went home. At the end I was hugging my friends and my teachers.

Already I was crying at home straight away and missing school.

Year 5 and 6 extension up date

Wow! that looks like a lot of work to finish off. In extension we had to do a recipe using rice, one using banana and then mashed potatoes. I did Cheddar cheese mashed potatoes, for my rice recipe I did milk and tiny rice recipe and chocolate banana cake. This is all part of our food pyramid.

Second we did R.O.W. Rock our World. That's when we did our recipe or appetizers. We also had to go and do garage band. We did it on drums and bass guitar.

Today we had a meeting of how we feel about extension whether it's easy, comfortable or finding things difficult. I said I felt comfortable and that I rate myself 7 out of 10 because I looked things up that I don't really know what it means, so I could understand things better. So when I look it up it's easy for me to understand and find key words, to type in.

Extension group Aim

This term at Extension our task is to learn about food or appetizers.

First thing we did was make a survey of every one's favourite food. We had to make a survey because we needed to find out every ones favourite food. Then we put it together and made it into a food pyramid. Most of the unhealthy/healthy food,People voted fatty food or junk food to be their favourite food. Like confectionery,sugar and dessert. This is all part of R.O.W rock our world.We had to find different kinds of recipes using a food. Like this week we did it on mashed potatoes but we were suppose to do it on rice ,banana then potatoes. But we were behind so I did it together with the mashed potatoes.

Then Mrs Tele'a put us into 2 or 3 pairs. My partner was Paulitia. Then Mrs Tele'a told us to come up with a restaurant then find the location,the address,the capital city and a restaurant in the city.

Then we went on Google earth. It's like where you can find,information,where you live,your country and the restaurants.It's so cool and fun because when you type your place you can zoom up.

Camp Aratika

Whoopee! I am so excited.Already it's camp on Wednesday 18Th of March.On the first day of camp we had camp cooking.Mm as I could smell some delicious food that we were going to cook at camp,I could also feel the fire coming towards me.Plus I could see smoke going towards me and when I reached there it was right in my direction where I was about to walk.

Then we sat on the log and Whaiawawen told us how to cook damper if you don't know what damper is, well it's got doe mixed with water then raisin and flour to keep it dry.

So then we went to go and get a bamboo stick and our damper.when you've done that you roll the damper and make it into a sausage and then wrap it around your stick,then and make sure it's stickied on probably.Then you find a spot and sit down next to the fire and hold it on top until it's golden brown,then check if it's ready then you can eat it.Yummy!

Softball Tournament

Wow for two days our softball team have been training for our tournament. Yesterday in the afternoon at 3;30pm our school went to Dunkirk to play softball against other teams. When it was time to go we had to meet in the hall get our red our T-shirt on and wear any black Short's or just our normal ones. Then we sort out who was going in raven's mum's car he choose five people to go with him it was himself,charm,Cruz,Daniel and beni then toko picked five people as well and I walked with my friend Destiney and other year five and sixes plus miss King.

Being Put In Extension

Wow! As I heard yesterday in the afternoon at 2;05pm at school from Mrs Lagitupu that Paulitia,me and moses were in the Extension group. I was so happy for me paulitia and moses that we were going to be in Extension group. But that means to do my best and work hard in school.

I feel a little nervous because it's my first day tomorrow which is today.Hopefully I do well and try not to get distracted and concentrate on my work.I am a little excited because I thought that I wouldn't make it in the group but actually I did.

When I told my mum about the news she was so happy for me and said that I need to read heaps of books and understand what the word's means.She is also going to ask me questions about the book,check up on me and see if I know what the book is about.

First we marked the roll then we went to the hall to see if we had everything we needed like parent helpers,hats and lunch.

When we finished we walked together as a school down to our reserve. Mr Burt lead the way to the reserve and Rooms 17 and 18 were behind him. I could also hear some boys singing. It was Beni, Kalim, Sam and Trey. People were running trying to catch up and people were chatting to their next door neighbours. Finally we reached their we sat down and listened to Mr Burt tell us the instructions.

Then we set of to find a space to put all of stuff.We found a nice place in the shade.We sat down and me and my friends started to eat dunkin donuts.It was DELICIOUS!

When we finished we had a rest then went to go and play. First we played handstands then soccer then cricket and heaps more.I was so hot that I needed a drink then I went back and kept on playing I was so tired.

Then I heard that there was going to be kareoke.So I looked over and saw some people singing it was so cool and some people were shy like me and my friends to go up and sing,so we just carried on playing soccer with each other.

Then we all had to go back to our classes line up, make sure the reserve was tidy and meet up.We all sat together and prayed for this wonderful day we had and that it didn't rain and got cancelled.What a fun day we had and off we went back to school and went home with our families.

Australia

Wow! as my sister looked at all the delicious food.In the holidays I went to Australia with my mum and my sister to visit my grandma.

We left on boxing day at 6;00 and arrived there at Australia at 9;00 pm.

It was so fancy because the plane that we went on was Emirates.Those were the planes with the screen on the back of the seat.

Plus when we had lift of and left New Zealand,the screen turned on and you could listen to music and even watch some movies.

Then we got served some food.I had chicken with mash potatoes,peas,carrots,juice with ice,cheese with crackers and dark chocolate.

Then we arrived at Australia.We had to walk a long way.Finally we got out.I saw my uncle.

It was a 40 minutes minute drive to get to their house.Then we got our luggage and went inside.I heard two dogs barking.They kept on following me around wherever I went.

I asked what their names were.It was luda and Georgy two Chihuahua's.They also have a two story house with 6 bedrooms,5 pets,2 bathrooms and a family pool.They also took us to the movies to watch Twilight.Then I went to sleep and got ready for the next day.
